RDC plants shady trees, inlucing avocado, along Ameenee Magu

Road Development Corporation has begun planting various types of trees, including avocadoes, on both sides of Ameenee Magu.

Speaking with Sun, the Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik reveled that tarring and all related work has been completed until the seventh segment of Ameenee Magu, and was re-opened for public use on Thursday. He added that they were now planting trees on either side of the road.

He said that over 40 were planted on Thursday, and added that by the end of the project, about a 100 tress will be planted along Ameenee Magu.

The varieties being planted on the road are larger tress that will provide more shade. This includes avocado plants, Bullet Wood (Moonimaa) trees, Golden Shower (Anmalthassh) trees, Fiddlewood  (Hazaarumaa) trees and Sapota (Sabudheli) trees.

In addition to this, Moosa revealed that in the next phase they will be working on the road from Billabong High EPS International School, till Hilaalee Road.

Noting that the project’s deadline was set for September of this year, he expressed confidence they will be able to completed before that at the current speed.

 “It is a very difficult project. This is very challenging. But we are trying to completed before September.”

The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was contracted to RDC by Planning Ministry on July 3, 2022. Under the project, RDC will develop 7.1 kilometers of asphalt road, install a storm drain system, and install street lights.

The company is required to complete the MVR 84.4 million project within 210 days.

Physical works on the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was officially inaugurated on August 30, during a special ceremony.
