Road Development Corporation (RDC) has begun repairing potholes in Ameenee Magu, which was recently redeveloped up to modern standards.
The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu began under the previous MDP administration. When the current government took office, the only unfinished section of the road stretched from the Food Court area to the Dhiraagu Head Office.
The Ameenee Magu section with the highest number of potholes stretches from the national radio building to the Viyafaariveringe Mosque.
RDC commenced the pothole repair works last night.
Speaking with Sun regarding the matter, RDC Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem stated that work is currently underway to fill the potholes with asphalt and level the affected sections of the road. He estimated that all necessary repairs to address potholes posing risks to motorists and pedestrians will be completed by mid to late September, based on the work schedule that has been formulated.
“[We are] targeting to repair the most dangerous potholes. The plan is to undertake the work every weekend,” he added.
Concerns have been raised regarding potholes that have formed in Ameenee Magu, which pose a safety risk to both motorists and pedestrians. It is an open door to dangerous accidents. Although the issue came to light months earlier, it is only being addressed now.
