RDC awarded MVR 829mn contract to redevelop Addu link road

The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded a contract valued above MVR 800 million to redevelop the link road in Addu City.

The contract for the project was signed on Tuesday by Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib and RDC’s Managing Director Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair.

According to the Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Ministry, the project seeks to redevelop Addu’s roads and storm drain systems.

As such, RDC will be required to redevelop 67.58 kilometers of road which now have CTB (Cement-treated Base) with asphalt, install a stormwater drain system in Feydhoo, and install road signs.

The project is valued at MVR 829 million.

According to the terms of the contract, RDC is required to complete the project in three years and 11 months.

Tuesday’s signing ceremony was also attended by three parliamentary representatives from Addu; South Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi (IB), North Feydhoo MP Ismail Nizar, North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Sinan.
