Shamy reappointed as RDC chairperson after April dismissal

Mohamed Shamy Adam.

Mohamed Shamy Adam has been reappointed as the chairperson of Road Development Corporation (RDC), four months after he was dismissed from the same role.

Shamy, who was originally appointed as the chairperson of RDC in January 2024, was dismissed from the role a little over a year later, on April 27. He was also dismissed from the board of SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) the same day.

But the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) announced on Thursday that Shamy has been reappointed as a board member and chairperson of RDC.

The RDC has recently seen a lot of changes at its top management, with former state minister for construction Ibrahim Nazeem appointed as the company’s managing director. Meanwhile, the company’s former managing director Ali Zahir was appointed to the same role at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), with Mohamed Asbah Ali Naseer following his in a lateral move to the HDC.

RDC’s new managing director Nazeem had also headed the RDC back during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration, but was dismissed following corruption allegations.
