Large area of Ameenee Magu closed for redevelopment works

A large area of Ameenee Magu has been closed for redevelopment works of the road contracted to Road Development Corporation (RDC) by the Planning Ministry.

In a tweet, RDC said that Ameenee Magu has been closed from where the road intersects with Boduthakurufaanu Magu up until Irudheymaa Hingun.

The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was contracted to RDC by Planning Ministry on July 3.

Under the project, valued at MVR 84.4 million, RDC will develop 7.1 kilometers of asphalt road, install a storm drain system, and install street lights.

The company is required to complete the project within 210 days.

Physical works on the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was officially inaugurated on August 30, during a special ceremony.

Scope of the project:

  • Installation of brail blocks for visually impaired pedestrians
  • Making the road accessible to wheelchair users
  • Installation of streetlights on both sides of the road
  • Construction of bumpers
  • Sign boards and bus stops
  • Tree pots for greenery of the road
  • Laying down cables, and building cable trays on both sides of the road
  • Construction of special junctions for HV cables
