Two arrested for breaking into Male’ home, robbing residents at knifepoint

The police have arrested two people after they allegedly broke into a home in Male’ City and robbed residents at knifepoint.

The case was reported to the police at midnight Wednesday. The police made two arrests the same night. They are:

  • Hussain Shaif, 32, Vidhuvaru, B. Dharavandhoo
  • Ismail Vishal, 30, M. Dhaarulgaraaru, K. Male’

According to the police, the two men broke into the home via the window of a bathroom. They pressed knives against the throats of two of the home’s residents as they were sleeping, and threatened to kill them if they made any movement.

They proceeded to steal their phones, a laptop and other items.

They then locked the bathroom from the inside and climbed back out of the window.

The police said they have recovered the stolen phones and laptop, and also found other items believed to have been stolen from their possession.

The case is under investigation by the police.
