International Aid Campaign (IAC) has raised over MVR 5 million in donations to aid Palestinians in besieged Gaza, as the humanitarian crisis in the narrow coastal territory escalates.
An official from IAC told Sun on Saturday that the organization has raised over MVR 5 million since it issued its appeal for donations on Sunday.
The opportunity to make donations remains open.
IAC said it takes an average of 12.5 percent from donations to cover expenses related to the management and administration of the project.
More than 2,200 people – about half of them children and women – have been killed in relentless Israeli bombardment on Gaza since Hamas attacked Israel October 7.
On Friday, the Israeli military ordered 1.2 million civilians in northern Gaza relocate to its south within 24 hours
It has invoked fears of a repeat of the most traumatic event in Palestine's tortured history, their mass exodus from what is now Israel during the 1948 war surrounding its creation.
