Resolution to ban Israelis from Maldives submitted to parliament

A resolution calling for a ban on Israelis entering Maldives has been presented to parliament.

The resolution, moved by Villingili MP, Saud Hussain, said the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian Muslim people without regard to the civilian population are a crime against humanity.

The resolution noted that Israel continues to use several weapons banned by international treaties and laws in its attacks and has closed Gaza, cut off water, sewerage, and electricity supplies, and prevented the entry of food.

Noting that it is a grave crime against humanity committed by Israel, Saud's resolution says he considers it necessary for the Maldivian legislature to pass a resolution calling on all UN member states to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people and ensure continuous access to basic services.

The resolution calls on the Maldivian government to take all necessary measures to ban Israeli citizens from entering Maldives in protest against Israel's inhuman atrocities.

"It is important to ban all imports of Israeli products and exports, immediately suspend any relations between Israel and Maldives, and maintain these measures until Israel withdraws from all occupied Palestinian territories and establishes peace in the Middle East," the resolution said.

Therefore, the resolution is proposed to express to the international community the views of the Parliament on this issue and that the Maldivians stand with the Palestinian people.
