RDC awarded road development projects in two islands

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been contracted by the Planning Ministry to develop the roads of two islands; R. Maduvvari and ADh. Mahibadhoo.

The contracts were signed by Planning Ministry’s director general Fathimath Shana Farooq and RDC’s general manager Huzam Hussain Didi on Tuesday.

The road development project in Mahibadhoo is valued at MVR 42.7 million.

Under the project, RDC will develop 2.035 kilometers of road, establish a storm drain system, and install lights.

RDC is required to complete the project in 420 days.

Meanwhile, the road development project in Maduvvari is valued at MVR 82.8 million.

Under the project, RDC will develop 3.5 kilometers of road with asphalt, establish a storm drain system, and install lights.

RDC is required to complete the project in 540 days.

The Planning Ministry also awarded three more projects to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC); a land reclamation project in AA. Mathiveri, a coastal protection project in R. Maakurath, and a coastal protection project in ADh. Omadhoo.

The contracts were signed by Planning Ministry’s director general Fathimath Shana Farooq and MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim.

The land reclamation project in Mathiveri is valued at MVR 142.9 million.

Under the project, MTCC will reclaim 26.5 hectors of land from the north to west of the island.

MTCC is required to complete the project in 390 days.

The coastal protection project in Maakurath is valued at MVR 12.1 million.

Under the project, MTCC will install a 317-meter rock boulder revetment.

MTCC is required to complete the project in 150 days.

Meanwhile, the coastal protection project in Omadhoo is valued at MVR 10.08 million.

Under the project, MTCC will install a 45-meter rock boulder revetment, a 34-meter groyne, and 350-meter and 260-meter geobag revetment.

MTCC is required to complete the project in 180 days.
