Man held captive and robbed in Male' City

A case of a man being held captive in Male’ City and robbed of money from his bank account has come to light.

Speaking to Sun regarding the case, a police Spokesperson said the man was held captive inside a guesthouse in Male’ City, where he was beaten and forced to transfer money from his bank account.

The Spokesperson, however, did not disclose the age of the man and the amount of money that was forcibly transferred out of his account.

The case was reported to the police at 1:30pm on Friday afternoon. The police are investigating the case further.

Hostage situations are rare in the Maldives.
