Alleged reckless driver vandalizes police station; drugs found in jeans pocket

A young man who went to the Hulhumale’ Police Station to collect his motorcycle which was towed for reckless driving was arrested on Monday early morning after he smashed the light on the door of the police station.

Zaidhan Mohamed Zahir, 24, H. Hemavathi, K. Male’, was arrested at around 04:15 am Monday.

According to the police, Zaidhan went to the Hulhmale’ Phase I Police Station to collect his motorcycle, which was towed for reckless driving.

But he was arrested after he allegedly smashed the light on the door in the west-side of the police station.

When the police searched him following his arrest, they found a rubber packet containing suspected drugs in the pockets of his jeans.

The police did not specify the type or quantity of drugs found in his possession.

He is under investigation by the police for vandalizing the police station and for possession of drugs.
