Mohamed Imthinan Saudhulla, the son of North Thinadhoo MP Saudhulla Hilmy, has been named as President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s top pick for appointment to the board of directors of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
The term of four of MIRA’s board directors are set to expire on August 31. The President’s Office had opened applications to find replacements back in June.
A shortlist of 14 of the candidates were submitted to the Parliament for consideration on Sunday, with Imthinan’s name on the top of the list, indicating the President’s preference. The list also includes the names of two incumbent board directors; Mumthaz Abdul Rasheed and Husham Waheed.

The top pick, Imthinan previously worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). In 2024, during his time as a senior research analyst at MMA, Imthinan received the Best Presenter Researcher Award at the 9th International Conference on Intellectual Advancements for his paper, "Identifying Resort Clusters and Mapping Recent Trends Post-Covid-19”.
