Two people were injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Addu City’s Hithadhoo district last night.
A Police Spokesperson told Sun that they received a report of a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Hithadhoo Bodu Magu at approximately 23:52pm last night.
The Spokesperson detailed that the two individuals on the motorbike sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to Addu Equatorial Hospital for treatment.
The accident is under further investigation by the Police.
Addu Equatorial Hospital has yet to comment on the accident.
Speaking with Sun, an eyewitness who saw the accident identified the two individuals on the motorbike as a man and a woman. According to the eyewitness, the motorbike was significantly damaged in the accident, as was the, front of the car.
However, the eyewitness said the passengers inside the car were unharmed.
The eyewitness reported a renewed increase in road accidents in Addu City.
Notably, a 24-year-old man died from injuries sustained after he crashed his motorbike in an accident on the Hankede bridge at Addu City in late February.
Addu Equatorial Hospital has also raised concerns regarding an increase in road accidents in the southern city. According to the hospital, 277 accidents took place in Addu last year and 27 took place last month alone.
