The jogger who was hit by a speeding motorcycle at a zebra crossing in Male’ City in a tragic accident that cost the life of a teenage boy on Sunday is being treated on a ventilator with critical injuries, including a brain bleed.
The accident took place near the Maafannu Bus Terminal at around 8:17 pm on Sunday, and involved a speeding motorcycle that hit a jogger using the zebra crossing before crashing into a pickup.
The accident resulted in injuries to three people; a 40-year-old man who was out jogging, and a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy on the motorcycle, the latter of whom, Yoosuf Alsan Mohamed, the son of musicians Mohamed Abdul Ghani (Theyrava) and Mariyam Ashfa, died.
The police said that all of them sustained serious injuries in the accident and were rushed to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun on Monday morning that the 40-year-old is being treated on a ventilator at the ICU.
Sun has been informed that he sustained critical injuries in the accident, including a brain bleed and facial fractures.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old boy has been moved to a ward. However, details regarding the extent of his injuries are unclear at this point.

CCTV footage of the accident shows the speeding motorcycle hit the jogger as he used the zebra crossing to jog to the other side of the road. He is seen trying unsuccessfully to move out of the way before getting hit by the motorcycle and getting thrown to the ground, along with the boy in the backseat of the motorcycle. Meanwhile, the boy driving the motorcycle got thrown under the pickup which was headed in the opposite direction.
The accident is under investigation by the police.
