President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said on Sunday that he expects to finish visiting all residential islands of the Maldives before the end of next year.

He made the remark during a rally in ADh. Mahibadhoo – the second stop in his ongoing two-day tour of islands in the ADh. Atoll.

Addressing the rally, President Muizzu said that he has met with all local councils – except for four.

“I now plan to embark on a tour to visit all islands I have yet to travel to. I will begin these visits. Therefore, I plan on visiting the remaining islands of this constituency, this atoll, and the larger Maldives throughout next year. I will have visited each and every island before the end of next year,” he said.

President Muizzu said the visits will help him understand what local communities want, and help shape projects in accordance with their aspirations.

He said that he will not overlook any island.

President Muizzu said that he also plans on embarking on a second tour to revisit all islands in 2027.

In a statement announcing President Muizzu’s tour of ADh. Atoll on Saturday, the President’s Office said he had met with members of 185 councils across the country.
