Man remanded in custody for hitting a police officer with a motorbike

A young man who hit a police officer with a motorbike has been remanded in custody for 10 days.

Police said Ali Samah, 24, Magumatheege, Lh. Kurendhoo was speeding on a motorbike near a vehicle checkpoint near Henveiru Stadium on Tuesday night.

When he was asked to stop by the Police, he had hit an officer with the motorbike and fled the scene.

Samah was arrested under the court order in connection to the case last night.

Police detailed that he was remanded in custody for 10 days upon being presented before the Criminal Court.

The case is under investigation by the Police.
