President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Monday, has declared Maaddoo as part of Eydhafushi.

The President signed the resolution concerning the matter in the early hours of Monday following a meeting with Eydhafushi Council.

Speaking with Sun, Eydhafushi Council’s President Mohamed Fathih said the allocation of Maaddoo to Eydhafushi will create an abundance of benefits in various avenues including economy-wise.

“We will benefit in all avenues. For example, we can reap huge economic benefits if guesthouse business and farming are undertaken at Maadoo,” he said.

Fathih said the council will open the opportunity nationwide to undertake various activities in Maaddoo which subsequently will increase revenue to Eydhafushi. He added that plans concerning Maaddoo will be implemented following discussions with the government and residents of Eydhafushi.

Maaddoo neighbors 54-hectare Eydhafushi and is an island that is similar in size.
