B. Eydhafushi councilors have asked the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to improve the quality of healthcare services at the B. Atoll Hospital.
The request was made in a meeting between the President and members of the Eydhafushi Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) at the President’s Office on Sunday afternoon.
The discussions at the meeting focused on Eydhafushi’s developmental needs.
Conveying the concerns of the community of Eydhafushi, councilors spoke to the President about the need to build additional facilities and improve the quality of healthcare services at the B. Atoll Hospital, the space constraints in the island’s harbor, the need to repair the revetment used for shore protection, increasing housing opportunities for the residents, and upgrading the office building of the council secretariat.
The councilors also spoke about the island's road development project, noting that there were additional roads to be developed and that work on the unfinished roads needed to be expedited.
The councilors also spoke about the need for a futsal ground for the island’s youth population, while the WDC members spoke about the need for a handball court in the island.
Speaking to the councilors and WDC members, President Solih said that the government had found solutions to most of the grievances raised at their previous meeting.
He assured them that his administration would address their concerns and find amicable solutions by consulting with the relevant ministries.
The President added that development projects for the island would be included in the budget for next year after discussions with key stakeholders.
