President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has launched the second phase of the road development in Fuvahmulah City.
President Muizzu, who is on a tour of the four southern atolls, inaugurated practical works on the second phase of the project in his visit to Fuvahmulah on Monday.
The Fuvahmulah road development project is contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The second phase of the project was contracted to the company on July 25, 2023.
MTCC began work on the first phase of the project in 2019, which involved the development of 34 roads.
Under the second phase, the company will develop 12.17 kilometers of road with asphalt, install a storm water drain system, and street lights.
The project is valued at MVR 255 million. MTCC is required to complete the project in two years.
