Island Aviation, the operator of the national airline, Maldivian, has filed a police complaint against Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir for allegedly threatening one of its pilots.

A video went viral on social media on Wednesday, which shows Jabir, on a platform to board a seaplane. He is captured communicating with the pilot in foul language and asking the pilot whether they do not know who he is.

Commenting on the incident, Maldivian’s media official told Sun that the company’s highest priority is the safety and security of its pilots, crew and customers.

The media official confirmed that a police complaint was filed yesterday over Jabir’s action, seeking an investigation and any necessary action.

Airlines can blacklist passengers over such actions. However, Maldivian has not yet taken such a decision against Jabir.

Jabir has been repeatedly in hot water for using foul language and flouting societal norms when communicating with members of the general public. Just recently, videos of Jabir in some islands, arguing with the respective residents of the island in foul language had been leaked.

Opposition MDP cancelled Jabir ticket for Kaashidhoo constituency and expelled him from the party on Monday following an investigation for unruly behavior.
