President: Will complete handover of registries for flat and land owners by end of next week

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states Housing Ministry will undertake the handover of registries for land and flat owners over the course of this week and next week.

In a post on X on Tuesday, President Muizzu affirmed that the handover of registries to the owners of land plots and flats according to the final list compiled by the former administration and the subsequent handover of the land plots and flats will go on as he had pledged.

President Muizzu, noting some of the locations at which land plots have been allocated from have not been reclaimed yet, said reclamation works were progressing at a speedy pace. He also announced plans to further reclaim land from Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru for which preparations are underway.

Former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, under its ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme, decided to reclaim land from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu to issue land plots for Male’ residents. However, the reclamation had been incomplete at the conclusion of the administration’s term in office.

4,000 flats being developed by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) will be awarded to first-round recipients of flats under the former administration’s ‘Gedhoruveriya’ housing scheme.
