The political leaders President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met on Wednesday affirmed their support and cooperation to the Maldivian government in prioritizing national interests in domestic and international affairs, says the President’s office.
President Muizzu met with leaders of some of the key political parties in the Maldives, in separate meetings held at the President’s Office on Wednesday afternoon.
He met with the leader of the Jumhoory Party (JP) and Maamigili MP, Qasim Ibrahim; the president of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed; the president of the Maldives National Party (MNP) and Dhangethi MP Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim; and the president of the Democrats and West Henveiru MP Hassan Latheef.
According to the President’s Office, discussions at the meetings centered on working together to develop the nation, and the significance of working for the betterment of the community.
“The political leaders affirmed that they would provide full support and cooperation to the Government on various issues, including the country's peace and tranquility, various development projects undertaken by the Government, and prioritizing national interests in domestic and foreign affairs,” said the President’s Office.
At the meetings, President Muizzu said that the ideas and perspectives of all political parties were crucial to his administration’s operations, and expressed hope that such meetings would continue in the future.
