Mainu appointed Commissioner General of Customs; Zareer as Commissioner of Prisons

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Yoosuf Maniu Mohamed as the Commissioner General of Customs, and Hassan Zareer as the Commissioner of Prisons.

They were presented with their letters of appointment in a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday.

The appointments were made at state ministerial level.

Maniu had served as the president of the National Integrity Commission (NIC) during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.

Meanwhile, Zareer had served as Deputy Housing Minister during Yameen’s administration, when President Muizzu had been Housing Minister.

He also served with President Muizzu at the Male’ City Council, and had resigned to take on the job at his administration.

Also on Monday, President Muizzu appointed former Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim as the Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy at the ministerial level.

He also appointed three other senior government officials at the state ministerial level.

They are:

• Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
• Ibrahim Amir, Minister of State for Sports, Fitness, and Recreation
• Fathimath Shamnaaz Ali Saleem, State Minister at the Presidential Palace
