Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, on Friday, was appointed Chief of Defense Force.
He was appointed to the post at a state ministerial level during a special ceremony held at the President’s Office tonight to make appointments for senior posts in the administration of newly sworn-in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Prior to his appointment, Major General Abdul Raheem held the post of Vice Chief of Defense Force.
He enlisted in the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) on February 18th, 1985, after completing his schooling from Majeedhiyaa School.
He is a graduate of the Sri Lanka Defense Services Command and Staff College and has accomplished various trainings including the MNDF NCO Cadre Course, Signals Young Officer and Mid-Career Course in Pakistan and Defense Management Course at the College of Defense Management in India.
Major General Abdul Raheem, in his distinguished military career, has held numerous posts including serving as the official spokesperson of MNDF for over four years.
