Newly sworn-in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has thanked delegations from foreign nations who traveled to the Maldives for his inauguration ceremony.
In a post on X on Friday night, he expressed appreciation to more than 190 representatives from 49 countries and many international organizations that attended the inauguration ceremony earlier this evening.
“I am heartened by the immense support shown by the international community towards the new government. We are committed to a policy of engagement,” he added.

President Muizzu and Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef took oath during a special ceremony held at the Republic Square on Friday evening which saw the attendance of over 3,500 people, inclusive of 1,000 members of the general public.
Notably, in attendance were also former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of the outgoing administration and members of parliament in addition to senior officials from the former administration and the new administration.
