The President-elect’s Office, underscoring having received information of the alteration of state documents, has called on the current administration to cease doing so.
Speaking at a press conference at the president-elect’s personal residence, M. Dhimyaath, on Monday morning, the spokesperson of the President-elect’s Office Firuzul Abdul Khaleel revealed having taken note of acts in violation of the “spirit of the transition process” despite receiving cooperation for the head of the government.
“We have somewhat been receiving information claiming alteration of the accounts of state, state companies and agencies; creating receipts on earlier dates and such things,” he said.
He called onto immediately to cease such acts.
Underscoring the Civil Service Commission (CSC) had issued specific instructions with respect to making new appointments for posts and creating new posts – he stressed that such instructions were issued to pave the way for the smooth transfer of power.
“Our advice is for all state companies and agencies, whether they be not included in the Civil Service Act, is to adhere to these instructions in line with this spirit,” he added.
He alleged that some state companies were taking new hires, dismissing staff and giving promotions.
Speaking further, Firuzul noted the nomination of ambassadors to two foreign nations by the president at the parliament. Pointing out the president reserved the executive power to make such an appointment, expressed hope that the president will comply with the transitional process.
“We thankfully note having received full affirmation from the president of providing full cooperation in this process,” he added.
He expressed hope for the whole government to shape their actions in line with the president’s promise.
Opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu won the presidential election held in September. While efforts are underway for the president-elect to be sworn in on September 17th, efforts have also commenced to peacefully carry out the transfer of power.
