First Lady Fazna meets president-elect Muizzu’s wife

Incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s wife, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Monday, met with president-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s wife, Saajidha Mohamed.

The meeting was held at the Mulee’age, the official residence of the president. During the meeting, First Lady Fazna congratulated the incoming First Lady Saajidha on Muizzu’s election victory.  

She also imparted insights from her tenure as First Lady and pledged her full support and assistance to the incoming First Lady.

First Lady Fazna also reiterated her dedication to facilitating a smooth transition of government to the incoming administration. Both the First Lady and the spouse of the president-elect exchanged their shared enthusiasm for advancing the nation's social sector and in this regard engaged in a comprehensive discussion on various social issues – emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts to devise solutions.

President Solih and president-elect Muizzu also met on October 1st.

During the meeting, President Solih also congratulated Muizzu’s election victory, adding he had accepted the people’s decision in the presidential election.

Muizzu led the polls with 54.04 percent of the total votes which amounts 129,150 votes. President Solih won 45.96 percent of the votes which amounts to 109,868 votes. Therefore, Muizzu won the election with a landslide of 19,291 votes.

The president-elect is scheduled to be sworn in on November 17th. The transition process of transferring the power is presently underway.
