Muizzu: Will give flats to those who did not get after receiving award letter in Yameen’s administration

Opposition coalition’s presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to give flats to individuals who were not awarded Hiyaa Flats by this administration after they received award letters during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration.

Muizzu announced the pledge while speaking to the press at Hiyaa Flats area in Hulhumale’ Phase II after the commencement of a door-to-door campaign activity.

He promised to listen to the concerns of Hiyaa residents, and address their needs.

“The pledge back then to individuals on the flats list released by President Yameen’s administration who were not awarded flats by the current administrations still remains. Will fulfill that pledge. Those individuals will be prioritized in awarding flats developed in our administration,” he said.

Muizzu said if elected, his administration’s vision is to provide housing for all citizens. In line with this, he said there will not be a single individual in need of housing by the end of the five-year term.

Muizzu went on the door-to-door campaign after attending a hearing held at the High Court on Yameen’s appeal of his 11-year prison sentence and USD 5 million fine after being found guilty of money laundering and bribery by the Criminal Court.

Muizzu, referring to his brief meeting with Yameen at court, said he experienced deep emotions during, including Yameen’s love for the nation.

He pledged to end cruelty, if elected to office, stressing his administration would not follow such practices. Muizzu added that his administration will not do anything outside of the judicial system or seek revenge.

Today’s door-to-door campaign marks Muizzu’s first campaign event. Sun has been informed, through reliable sources, that he will commence a campaign tour of atolls within the next two days.
