Mausoom resigns from MWSC after signing to Democrats

Ahmed Mausoom who resigned from his post as the Chairman of Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited’s (MWSC) chairperson Ahmed Mausoom has resigned from his post after signing up for the new political party spearheaded by former president, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed; ‘The Democrats.

Mausoon sent his resignation letter to Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Sunday in which he requested his removal from his post as MWSC’s chairperson and from the company’s board.

Mausoom was appointed MWSC’s chairperson on February 6, 2019.

He is an avid supported of Nasheed. Political appointees who have signed up for Nasheed’s ‘The Democrats’ have been dismissed from their posts.

Meanwhile, ‘The Democrats’ is undertaking efforts to reach 3,000 membership mark. The party will be registered once they hold their first general meeting, approve its Articles of Association and submit it to the Elections Commission (EC). The party will receive funding from the state budget once they submit 10,000 membership application forms.
