Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) on Tuesday inaugurated “Malas Residence” housing units in the second phase of Hulhumale’.
The 15 storey tower was built under the social housing - Hiya project by companies, including states owned ones.
The inauguration took place during a special ceremony, by the Minister at the President’s Office Ahmed Sameer. He was accompanied by the Managing Director at MWSC Hassan Shah.
During the ceremony, the company that undertook the development of the towers The 23rd Metallurgical Construction Group handed over the “key” to MWSC. Following this, the company handed over keys to the recipient employees of the housing units.
According to MWSC, of the 127 employees, they were in the final stages of handing over keys to four and 25 in evaluation stages. Moreover, it was revealed that 36 slots will be reopened for application.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Shah said that the inauguration of “Malas Residents” will enable employees to get their own housing, at affordable rates.
The tower by MWSC has a total of 192 apartments. This includes 60 units with three rooms, 40 units with two plus one rooms and 92 single room units.
In addition to the living areas, there is a play area dedicated for children, a shop and parking zone for vehicles.
