The Maldivian government held an official welcoming ceremony on Monday for the visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Hun Sen arrived in the Maldives on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday morning.
An official welcoming ceremony was held at Republic Square in the Maldivian capital, Male’ City, on Monday morning.
PM Hun Sen was received by President Solih upon arrival at the Izzuddin Jetty.
He was then escorted to the saluting dais and offered a seven-gun salute by the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). It was followed by the performance of the national anthems of the two countries by the MNDF brass band.
PM Hun Sen then proceeded to inspect a Guard of Honor, followed by the presentation of senior Maldivian government officials and the visiting delegation.
He was then escorted to the President's Office by a cultural procession, where he signed the visitors' book.
President Solih and PM Hun Sen are set to engage in official talks to strengthen existing ties and develop partnerships between the two countries, and preside over an agreement exchange ceremony and hold a joint press conference to speak about the outcomes of the talks.
The Maldives and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1995.
It is PM Hun Sen’s first visit to the Maldives.
