Maldives Customs Service has seized a shipment of drugs worth over MVR 2 million smuggled into Maldives through a courier service.
Maldives Customs Service said that the parcel which contained the drugs came under scrutiny during an inspection of parcels which came into Maldives via courier.
The parcel in question was inspected on November 20.
Maldives Customs Service said tests on the substances found in the parcel tested positive for mephedrone and heroin.
The drugs found in the parcel weighed 1.34 kilos; 304 grams of mephedrone and 1,034 grams of heroin.
The street value of the drugs is estimated to be MVR 2,049,000.
Maldives Customs Service said the drugs were handed over to Maldives Police Service.
