Inguraidhoo Council’s vice president Fathimath Hishma told Sun that they raised nearly MVR 40,000.

The money will be donated to Pakistan through the International Aid Campaign.

“We always send the relief money we raise through the International Aid Campaign. We plan to do the same this this time,” she said.

Hishma commended Inguraidhoo residents for their support.

“There are fewer people living here right now and they have little means. But managing to raise nearly MVR 40,000 – that’s remarkable support,” she said.

The council thanked the island’s residents for their exemplary behavior.

“Whether it’s a fellow resident in need, or someone in a neighboring island… The people of this island are always ready to help,” said Hishma.

The monsoon rains that triggered devastating floods in Pakistan has left one-third of the country underwater, and affected 33 million people.
