Maldivian police are seeking a Portuguese interpreter to assist in an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) involving a Brazilian suspect.

Police said on Wednesday they are seeking an interpreter in connection to the case against a Brazilian woman who was arrested with drugs from the Velana International Airport on August 13.

The suspect does not understand English, said the police.

Customs officials seized 3.2 kilos of cocaine from the luggage of the 31-year-old Brazilian woman, who arrived in Maldives on a flight from Brazil on the afternoon of August 13.
