Permission issued to 104 resorts to operate

The Tourism Ministry has granted permission for 104 tourist resorts to resume operations.

Maldives closed its borders for international travel in face of the COVID-19 pandemic on March 27, and reopened its borders nearly four months later on July 15. Since then, Tourism Ministry has granted permission for 104 tourist resorts to resume operations.

They include resorts which have already resumed operations, and resorts scheduled to resume operations over the next two months.

Tourism Ministry has also granted permission for three hotels located in non-residential islands to resume operations. It includes Amilla Fushi located in B. Finolhas, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo located in G. A. Kooddoo, and Equator Village located in Gan, Addu City.

Meanwhile, 109 tourist/safari vessels have been allowed to resume operations, and 32 hotels and guesthouses located in the greater Male’ region have been allowed to operate as transit facilities.

Maldives is scheduled to reopen guesthouses located in residential islands outside of Male’ region on October 15, and is currently open to all tourists, provided they have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 72 hours before departure from their original destination.
