The operations of the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) of the Maldives Police Service has been enhanced with the inclusion of new equipment.
Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed made the announcement of the new equipment in a tweet today. The new equipment will allow enhanced operations and increase the capabilities of officers in dangerous situations.

Some of the equipment includes locks, chains, and metal drilling “Strongarms” as well as breaching kits to break down doors.
Drug activities in the Maldives have turned into a very organized criminal activity. In December police raided numerous locations in the capital city used as drug dens and seized money, drugs and other accessories used in such activities. One of the most notable raids was carried out in M.Lonumidhilige also known as “Lonu city”.
