Westpark fishing platform collapses, injuring 2

The Westpark fishing platform collapsed on Wednesday evening, injuring two who had been on the platform at the time.

The incident took place at approximately 5:57 pm.

According to the police, the platform is composed of four blocks of concrete, and the collapse took place in the two blocks located in the middle.

The two injured – both men – had been standing on the two blocks which collapsed.

“One of the two people who fell has a cut along the sole of his foot. He said been taken to the hospital. But his condition isn’t serious,” said a police spokesperson on Wednesday.

The fishing platform has been closed off by the police for public safety.
