Former Housing Minister Mohamed Muizzu has stated that removing the bumpers on the Sinamale’ bridge would lead to more accidents.

He was speaking after the Police had removed the bumpers on the bridge due to some small accidents. The bumpers were removed after discussions were held between Police, Housing Ministry and Transport Ministry.

The step by the authorities was questioned by the former Housing Minister who tweeted that the removal would see more and more peopled riving at fast speed especially cyclists. Muizzu also stated that this would increase the number of accidents on the bridge, endanger those using the bridge and damage the bridge as well.

Statistics show that more than 100 accidents had occurred on the Sinamale’ bridge since it opened. However, the number of accidents on the bridge has reduced significantly recently.
