Pres. Muizzu and Azerbaijani pres. discuss identifying new avenues for cooperation

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his Azerbaijan counterpart, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, have discussed identifying new avenues for bilateral collaboration between Maldives and Azerbaijan.

The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention Centre in China.

The meeting began with President Muizzu and President Ilham Aliyev acknowledging the strong and longstanding ties between the Maldives and Azerbaijan. President Muizzu extended his heartfelt thanks to President Aliyev for the warm hospitality extended during his official visit to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29).

The two leaders engaged in productive discussions focused on exploring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Key areas highlighted included enhancing people-to-people connections, expanding economic collaboration, and boosting trade and investment between the two countries.

Concluding the meeting, leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening Maldives–Azerbaijan relations through continued engagement in mutually beneficial areas.
