Company accused of quota fraud awarded 6 govt. projects

One of the companies accused of submitting falsified papers to secure quota for recruitment of expatriate workers had been awarded six government projects.

Economic Ministry had publicized a list of 12 companies suspected of submitting falsified papers to secure quotas for recruitment of expatriate workers on Thursday, September 26.

One of the companies – Water Park Maldives Private Limited – had been awarded six government projects including projects to build multi-purpose halls at public schools in the atolls.

All 12 companies are currently under investigation by the police for fraud.

The government has recently announced a crackdown on companies which engage in illegal recruitment of expatriate workers, and has also launched a regularization program for undocumented expatriate workers in Maldives.
