MTCC (Maldives Transport and Contracting Company) has stated that what remains to be completed in the redevelopment project of the artificial beach in Male' city is the flooring works.
At a news conference held yesterday regarding the project run by MTCC, company CEO Hassan Shah stated that the flooring works of the beach were halted due to a change of plans.
"The initial idea was to install (flooring) planks. Due to a delay in the delivery of the planks by the assigned company, discussions with the Ministry of Planning have led us to decide that planks would not be installed," said Shah.
Discussions were still going on regarding the alternatives for the flooring of the beach, according to Shah. The artificial beach is being revamped to accommodate empty spaces and seating as well as trees in the crowded Male' city.
