A Maldivian aircraft experienced a significant delay in Jeddah on Saturday, affecting pilgrims traveling back home from Umrah under the Hajj Corporation.
The incident, reportedly involving flight Q2-6361, is believed to have stemmed from an engine malfunction, leading to an approximate one-hour delay after passengers had boarded. Specific details regarding the nature of the technical issue remain unclear.
Upon inquiry by Sun, Mohamed Shakeel, managing director of Hajj Corporation, confirmed the delay was due to a technical snag, the precise cause of which was not yet known.
Shakeel stated, "We were told by Maldivian airline that we would be informed of the exact departure time."
Maldivian also acknowledged a delay in the scheduled departure time for the flight, without providing further elaboration.
It is noteworthy that some Maldivian aircraft, utilized for both domestic and international routes, often encounter technical glitches and departure delays.
