Three-storey mosque to open in Hulhumale’ Phase II next month

Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed announced that a three-storey mosque will open in the Hiyaa flat area of Hulhumalé Phase II at the end of May.

In a message to the media on Thursday, Minister Shaheem said several permanent mosques are scheduled to be opened at Hulhumale’ Phase II this year. One such mosque, as per the Minister, is one with a capacity of 2,500 people.

According to the Minister, the construction of the mosque is funded by a private well-wisher. The contractor will be arranged by the said individual as well.

Minister Shaheem said the goal is to eliminate all temporary mosques by the end of this year.

The Minister further said a mega project to teach people to recite the Holy Quran by heart will launch in the atolls in May. The project is aimed at starting Quran memorization classes in islands with Islamic centers, islands whether Islamic centers are being built, and islands with large populations.
