International univerity donates 60,000 books to the Maldives to set up Islamic libraries.
Islamic Ministry states a foreign university has donated books required to establish Islamic libraries at Islamic Centres developed across the Maldives.
Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the government has received books required to establish Islamic libraries at Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre, Ungoofaru Islamic Centre, Thinadhoo Islamic Centre Addu Islamic Centre and other Islamic centres being developed in atolls.
According to the Minister, a total 60,000 books were donated.
Islamic Ministry has not disclosed the name of the university which made the donation.
According the Minister Shaheem, efforts to develop libraries in islands where Islamic centres have already been inaugurated will commence soon.
The establishment of Islamic libraries at Islamic centres across atolls is an electoral pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Islamic Ministry also noted that work on the Islamic library being developed in Malé, which will be located at Salman Mosque, is progressing at a fast pace.
