Woman with severe burns put on life support dies

The woman out of the young couple who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire in their home in AA. Rasdhoo on last Tuesday has passed away.

The couple was brought to Male’ City following the incident for medical treatment. Both were brought to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and put on life support.

From the couple, both aged 31 years, the woman had passed away around 19:17hrs on Monday evening, March 31st according to IGMH. The man is still being treated on life support.

Reportedly, the woman had passed away after a specialist doctor from India was flown in for their treatment, which was confirmed by IGMH’s Chief Executive Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq on Sunday.

Razzaq said the doctor, a specialist at the Mumbai Hospital has over 24 years of experience in treating severe burns and plastic surgery.

A local had told Sun earlier that the fire originated from one of the rooms of the couple’s home, and caused burns to almost all of their bodies. The individual also noted that the young couple were living in the house with their five-year-old child, who was unharmed in the incident.
