Sale and use of gastric injection banned over quality concerns

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the sale and use of an injection prescribed for gastritis due to quality concerns.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the MFDA identified the affected injection as Aristo Pantoprazole 40mg, batch number EMPH243030.

The authority has directed pharmacies and healthcare institutions with this stock to dispose of it according to the applicable regulations.

MFDA noted that medication importers have been instructed on the standards they must uphold in storing and transporting medication.
