Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has lifted the ban on Cofsy, a popular cough syrup produced in India, which was suspended last month over quality concerns.

In a statement on Sunday, the MFDA said that tests run on the batches of the medicine did not uncover any issues.

“Therefore, the import, sale and consumption of this medicine is permissible effective immediately,” said the MFDA.

The MFDA ordered the temporary ban of the medicine on August 19, after “particles” were found in the syrup. The agency said that it was running tests ascertain the safety of the medicine.

Those who require additional information regarding the agency’s decision are asked to call MFDA’s hotline 7200321.

Cofsy syrup is manufactured by India’s MMC Healthcare Ltd. It is a combination medicine used in the treatment of cough with mucus. It also provides relief from runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.
