MFDA: Issues in several batches of India’s Ichor Biologics' Immuglo

Issues noted from several batches of Normal Immunoglobulin for Intravenous Use BP 5% (Immuglo) manufactured by India’s Ichor Biologics Limited.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has cautioned the public over issues noted from several batches of Normal Immunoglobulin for Intravenous Use BP 5% (Immuglo) manufactured by India’s Ichor Biologics Limited.

As per an announcement on Sunday, MFDA said the issues were identified by Sri Lanka’s medicine regulation authority, National Medicines Regulatory Authority and the World Health Organization (WHO).

They detailed that batches with issues as:

  • IG24001AD
  • IG24002AD
  • IG24003AD
  • IG24004AD

MFDA noted that Ichor Biologicals Limited was not a company on the approved list of drugs for import and sale in the Maldives. Henceforth, they said it has been confirmed no batches of the medicine were imported to the Maldives.

Nevertheless, the Authority said it was issuing the advisory as India and Sri Lanka are countries frequented by Maldivians for medical purposes and as medications from these countries are acquired by Maldivians in some circumstances for personal needs.

Human normal immunoglobulin is a medication that provides the body with the antibodies it needs to fight infections.

Further information regarding the matter can be inquired by contacting MFDA hotline at 7200321.
