President: Kudahuvadhoo port will be operationalized before end of this term

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday night, affirmed that the commercial port being developed at Dh. Kudahuvadhoo will be completed and operationalized before the end of his current term.

He made the pledge during a meeting with Kudahuvadhoo residents as part of his ongoing tour of Dhaalu Atoll.

The agreement pertaining to the development of a commercial port at Kudahuvadhoo was signed during last night’s event. The agreement was signed by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and Maldives Ports Limited’s CEO, Managing Director (Retired) Mohamed Rishwan.

Speaking with the residents, President Muizzu described Kudahuvadhoo commercial project as a regionally viable initiative. With the signing of the agreement, he assured the people that the commercial port would be built and delivered as a fully operational facility within this term, by the will of Almighty Allah.

The development of seven Maldivian regions as urban centres is an important electoral pledge of President Muizzu. Kudahuvadhoo is among the seven islands where the said urban centres will be developed. 

The initiative is aimed to eliminating the need to travel to Male’ to seek basic services. In this regard, the government has previously stated that the urban centres developed across the nation will offer services up to par with Male’.
