President: Utility bills to be discounted this Ramadan as well

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that electricity and water bills during the upcoming month of Ramadan will be discounted as well.

He made the announcement during a meeting with Kudahuvadhoo residents on Sunday night as part of his ongoing tour of Dhaalu Atoll.

In response to the allegations surrounding his pledge to gift tuna cans to every Maldivian citizen for Ramadan, the President stressed the falsehoods of these claims are now being proven.

One of the allegations he highlighted was the claim that electricity and water bills would be increased during Ramadan to offset the costs of the tuna cases.

“What I want to reiterate is, as I have said before during a meeting with AA. Mathiveri residents on December 8^th last year, the electricity and water bills during this Ramadan will be discounted as well,” he said.

President Muizzu has pledged to resolve the issue of hikes utility bills during Ramadan. As such, electricity and water bills were discounted during last Ramadan as well.
